Clinical information

Common uses

high cholesterol and mixed dyslipidaemia
severe high triglycerides

Common side effects

abnormal liver tests
raised liver enzymes
raised muscle enzyme (CPK)
stuffy or runny nose

Cautions

serious liver injury reported — liver tests monitored
muscle damage risk, higher when combined with a statin
can cause gallstones
not with severe kidney disease, liver disease or gallbladder disease

Interactions

warfarin-type blood thinners (bleeding risk — dose adjusted)
statins (muscle damage risk)
immunosuppressants
bile acid resins (separate doses)
