Clinical information

Common uses

  • early breast cancer after 2-3 years of tamoxifen
  • advanced breast cancer after tamoxifen

Common side effects

  • hot flushes
  • tiredness
  • joint pain
  • headache
  • difficulty sleeping

Cautions

  • bone density falls over time with use
  • vitamin D levels checked before starting
  • can harm an unborn baby

Interactions

  • strong CYP3A4 inducers (rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, St John's wort) — dose increased

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm an unborn baby
