Etoposide

Clinical information

Common uses

  • treatment of certain cancers (chemotherapy)

Cautions

  • severe bone marrow suppression — blood counts checked each cycle
  • anaphylactic-type reactions can occur during infusion
  • low blood pressure if infused too quickly
  • rare risk of later acute leukaemia

Interactions

  • high-dose ciclosporin (raises etoposide levels)

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm an unborn baby
