Common side effects

premenstrual syndrome
headache or migraine
breast tenderness
nausea or vomiting
mood changes

Cautions

do not use if over 35 and a smoker — serious cardiovascular risk
may carry higher blood clot risk than some other pills
can raise potassium — not with kidney or adrenal problems
not with breast cancer, liver disease or uncontrolled high blood pressure

Interactions

enzyme-inducing drugs reduce effectiveness (use backup contraception)
hepatitis C combo ombitasvir/paritaprevir/ritonavir (do not use)
long-term potassium-raising medicines (potassium checked)

Pregnancy: do not use — stop if pregnancy occurs
