Enzalutamide

Hormone-blocking tablet or capsule used to treat prostate cancer.

Clinical information

Common uses

castration-resistant prostate cancer
metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer
high-risk non-metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer

Common side effects

muscle and joint pain
tiredness
hot flushes
constipation
decreased appetite

Cautions

seizures can occur — stopped permanently if one happens
raises risk of heart disease events
raises risk of falls and fractures
can harm an unborn baby — partners use contraception

Interactions

strong CYP2C8 inhibitors (avoid or reduce dose)
strong CYP3A4 inducers (avoid or increase dose)
certain CYP3A4, CYP2C9 or CYP2C19 substrate drugs (avoid)

Pregnancy: avoid — can cause fetal harm and pregnancy loss
