Doxorubicin

Doxorubicin liposomal injection is a chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, Kaposi's sarcoma and myeloma.

Clinical information

Common uses

ovarian cancer after platinum chemotherapy
AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma
multiple myeloma (with bortezomib)

Common side effects

weakness, fatigue and fever
nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation
hand-foot syndrome and rash
low blood counts
mouth sores and poor appetite

Cautions

boxed warning: heart muscle damage including heart failure
boxed warning: serious, sometimes fatal infusion reactions
not after severe allergic reaction to doxorubicin
can harm an unborn baby

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm the baby, especially in the first trimester
