Domperidone

Domperidone is an anti-sickness medicine for nausea and vomiting.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • feeling or being sick (nausea and vomiting)
  • stomach pain in end of life care
  • increasing breast milk supply (specialist use)

Common side effects

  • dry mouth

Cautions

  • usually only for up to 1 week — longer risks irregular heartbeat
  • not recommended for children under 12 or under 35kg
  • tell your doctor about liver, kidney or heart problems
  • may not be suitable for people over 60

Interactions

  • antidepressants and antipsychotic medicines
  • antibiotics and antifungal medicines
  • malaria medicines
  • HIV medicines
  • heart or blood pressure medicines
  • cancer treatments

Pregnancy: can be taken if other anti-sickness medicines have not worked
