Clinical information

Common uses

arsenic, gold and mercury poisoning
acute lead poisoning, with edetate calcium disodium

Common side effects

rise in blood pressure with fast heartbeat
feeling or being sick
headache
burning feeling in lips, mouth and throat
fever in children

Cautions

not for iron, cadmium or selenium poisoning — complexes are more toxic
avoid in most liver failure cases
injection site can be painful
