Clinical information

Common uses

osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men
glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis
bone loss during hormone-blocking cancer treatment

Common side effects

back pain
pain in arms or legs
muscle and bone pain
high cholesterol
bladder infection

Cautions

severe low calcium, especially in advanced kidney disease — can be fatal
jaw bone damage (osteonecrosis) has been reported
unusual thigh fractures and spine fractures after stopping
serious infections and skin reactions can occur

Interactions

calcimimetic drugs — may worsen low calcium
other denosumab products — do not use together

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm an unborn baby
