Dasatinib

Kinase inhibitor tablet for certain leukaemias (Ph+ CML and Ph+ ALL).

Clinical information

Common uses

Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukaemia
Ph+ acute lymphoblastic leukaemia after prior therapy
children 1 year and older with Ph+ CML

Common side effects

diarrhoea
headache
skin rash
tiredness
feeling sick

Cautions

severe drops in blood counts and bleeding — regular blood tests
fluid retention, including around the lungs
may increase pulmonary arterial hypertension risk
can harm an unborn baby — use effective contraception

Interactions

strong CYP3A4 inhibitors — dose reduction may be needed
strong CYP3A4 inducers — dose increase may be needed
antacids — avoid taking at the same time
stomach-acid reducers (H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors) — avoid
blood thinners or drugs affecting platelets — bleeding caution

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm an unborn baby
