Daratumumab

An antibody injection (with hyaluronidase) for multiple myeloma and AL amyloidosis.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • multiple myeloma (alone or in combinations)
  • high-risk smoldering multiple myeloma
  • light chain (AL) amyloidosis (in combination)

Common side effects

  • upper respiratory tract infection
  • fatigue
  • diarrhoea and constipation
  • musculoskeletal pain
  • rash and injection site reactions

Cautions

  • serious allergic and administration reactions can occur
  • serious, sometimes fatal infections
  • low white cells and platelets — regular blood monitoring
  • interferes with blood-bank crossmatching — inform blood bank

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm the baby; use effective contraception
