Cilostazol

A tablet that improves walking distance in people with leg circulation pain.

Clinical information

Common uses

intermittent claudication (leg pain from poor circulation)

Common side effects

headache
diarrhoea or abnormal stools
palpitations

Cautions

do not use with heart failure of any severity (boxed warning)
fast heartbeat or low blood pressure — caution with heart disease
blood cell counts can fall — periodic monitoring
avoid with bleeding disorders or active bleeding

Interactions

strong or moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors (reduce cilostazol dose)
CYP2C19 inhibitors (reduce cilostazol dose)

Pregnancy: harm seen in animal studies — only if prescribed
