Clinical information

Common uses

Parkinson's disease
post-encephalitic parkinsonism
parkinsonism after carbon monoxide or manganese poisoning

Common side effects

involuntary movements (dyskinesias)
feeling sick

Cautions

can cause sudden sleep during daily activities, including driving
watch for depression and suicidal thoughts
can lower vitamin B6 — seizures reported with deficiency
do not stop suddenly — risk of fever and severe rigidity

Interactions

nonselective MAOI antidepressants — stop at least 2 weeks before
