Clinical information

Common side effects

high blood calcium
weakness, headache and sleepiness
feeling sick, vomiting or constipation
dry mouth and metallic taste
muscle or bone pain

Cautions

vitamin D overdose is dangerous — severe high calcium possible
do not take other vitamin D preparations at the same time
care in kidney failure — risk of tissue calcification
not with existing high blood calcium or vitamin D toxicity

Interactions

other vitamin D medicines — withhold to avoid additive effects
magnesium-containing antacids — avoid on dialysis
