Clinical information

Common uses

progressive, metastatic medullary thyroid cancer

Common side effects

diarrhoea
mouth soreness (stomatitis)
sore, red hands and feet
weight loss and reduced appetite
feeling sick and tiredness

Cautions

can cause gut perforations, fistulas and severe bleeding
raises blood pressure — regular checks needed
impairs wound healing — stop before surgery
jaw bone damage (osteonecrosis) can occur

Interactions

strong CYP3A4 inhibitors — dose reduction needed
strong CYP3A4 inducers — dose increase needed

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm the unborn baby; use effective contraception
