Common uses
- high pressure inside the eye (ocular hypertension)
- glaucoma
Common side effects
- itchy or painful eye
- feeling that something's in your eye
- blurred vision or watery eyes
- eyes sensitive to bright light
- bad or unusual taste in the mouth
Cautions
- rarely causes serious skin rash (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
- not suitable if allergic to sulphonamide medicines
- tell your doctor about liver or kidney problems
- do not drive until any blurred vision clears
Interactions
- acetazolamide or dorzolamide (similar medicines)
- antifungals such as itraconazole or clotrimazole
- ritonavir (antiviral medicine)
- metformin (diabetes medicine)
Pregnancy: important to keep using — unlikely to harm your baby
