Brimonidine Tartrate + Timolol Maleate

Combination eye drops that lower high pressure inside the eye.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • glaucoma
  • ocular hypertension (high eye pressure)

Common side effects

  • allergic eye inflammation (conjunctivitis)
  • red eyes
  • itchy eyes
  • burning or stinging in the eye

Cautions

  • not for people with asthma or severe COPD
  • not with slow heart rate, heart block or heart failure
  • not for children under 2 years
  • can mask low blood sugar signs in diabetes

Interactions

  • blood pressure medicines and cardiac glycosides
  • oral beta blockers — effects add up
  • calcium channel blockers — heart rhythm and blood pressure effects
  • CNS depressants (sedatives) — additive effect
  • tricyclic antidepressants
  • MAOI antidepressants — more low blood pressure
