Clinical information

Common uses

glaucoma
ocular hypertension (high eye pressure)

Common side effects

allergic eye inflammation (conjunctivitis)
red eyes
itchy eyes
burning or stinging in the eye

Cautions

not for people with asthma or severe COPD
not with slow heart rate, heart block or heart failure
not for children under 2 years
can mask low blood sugar signs in diabetes

Interactions

blood pressure medicines and cardiac glycosides
oral beta blockers — effects add up
calcium channel blockers — heart rhythm and blood pressure effects
CNS depressants (sedatives) — additive effect
tricyclic antidepressants
MAOI antidepressants — more low blood pressure
