Eye drops that lower raised pressure inside the eye.

Clinical information

Common uses

open-angle glaucoma
ocular hypertension (raised eye pressure)

Common side effects

allergic, red or itchy eyes
burning sensation
dry mouth
blurred or disturbed vision
raised blood pressure

Cautions

not for babies and children under 2 years
caution with severe heart or circulation disease
keep the dropper tip clean — contamination risk

Interactions

blood pressure medicines and cardiac glycosides (blood pressure may fall)
CNS depressants (additive sedation)
tricyclic antidepressants
MAO inhibitor antidepressants (risk of low blood pressure)

Pregnancy: only if benefit outweighs risk
