Beta blocker eye drops used to lower raised pressure inside the eye.

Clinical information

Common uses

chronic open-angle glaucoma
raised eye pressure (ocular hypertension)

Common side effects

temporary eye discomfort

Cautions

not with slow heart rate, heart block or heart failure
can be absorbed and act like an oral beta blocker
can hide low blood sugar signs in diabetes
can mask signs of an overactive thyroid

Interactions

oral beta blockers (additive effects)
catecholamine-depleting drugs (additive effects)
adrenergic psychotropic drugs (additive effects)
