Azelastine

Antihistamine nasal spray for allergy symptoms.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • hay fever and other upper airway allergies
  • nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose

Common side effects

  • drowsiness
  • bitter taste in the mouth
  • nasal discomfort or sneezing after use

Cautions

  • for the nose only — keep out of eyes and mouth
  • ask a doctor after recent nose ulcers, surgery or injury
  • be careful driving or operating machinery
  • stop if rash or severe, frequent nosebleeds

Interactions

  • alcohol (increases drowsiness)
  • sedatives and tranquillisers (increase drowsiness)
