Clinical information

Common uses

respiratory tract infections
bacterial meningitis
septicaemia and endocarditis
urinary and gastrointestinal infections including typhoid

Common side effects

skin rash and hives
diarrhoea
feeling sick and vomiting
sore mouth or tongue

Cautions

not with previous penicillin allergy
serious allergic (anaphylactic) reactions possible
antibiotic-associated C. difficile diarrhoea can occur

Interactions

allopurinol (more skin rashes)

Pregnancy: only if clearly needed
