Alfuzosin Hydrochloride

A once-daily alpha-blocker tablet that eases urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate.

Clinical information

Common uses

  • benign prostatic hyperplasia symptoms

Common side effects

  • dizziness
  • upper respiratory tract infection
  • headache
  • tiredness

Cautions

  • can cause a blood pressure drop or fainting
  • not with moderate or severe liver problems
  • tell your eye surgeon before cataract surgery
  • not a treatment for high blood pressure

Interactions

  • ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir (contraindicated)
  • other alpha-blockers (avoid)
  • PDE5 inhibitors like sildenafil (low blood pressure)
  • QT-prolonging medicines (caution)

Pregnancy: not for use in women
