habitat and biology
This species inhabits areas of reef flats that are exposed to a mild to moderate surge of 0.5-2 m. It can be found either alone or in small groups and feeds mainly on benthic algae.
distinctive characters
The dorsal fin has 13 spines and 12-13 rays, the anal fin has 2 spines and 12-13 rays, and the pectoral fin has 17-18 rays. The body depth is 2.2-2.3 in standard length.
