habitat and biology
Species that eat both plants and animals are typically found alone or in pairs along the reef edge at depths ranging from 5 to 25 meters.
distinctive characters
The dorsal fin has 14 spines and 23-25 rays, the anal fin has 3 spines and 21-23 rays, and the pectoral fin has 15 rays. The body depth is 1.6 times the standard length, and the snout plus upper jaw is longer than the eye. The dorsal head profile is distinctly concave.
