habitat and biology
This species is typically observed in pairs or in small clusters on the outer edges of coral reefs, at depths ranging from 4-15 meters. Its diet consists mainly of coral polyps.

The dorsal fin has 12 spines and 25-28 rays, the anal fin has 3 spines and 20-22 rays, and the pectoral fin has 14-15 rays. The body depth is 1.4 times the standard length.
