description
Evergreen trees, to 15 m tall, for bark smooth, greyish. Leaves opposite, sub- × sessile, to 20 8 cm, broadly lanceolate or ovate, base cordate, apex acuminate, punctuate, secondary nerves many, prominent, looping with intra-marginal nerves. Flowers in drooping panicles at the branch tips or in small clusters in the axils of fallen leaves. Petals 4, white, ovate. Stamens numerous. Fruit with fleshy calyx; seeds 1-2, sometimes seedless.
