A chemotherapy injection for ovarian, breast, lung and pancreatic cancers.

Clinical information

Common uses

advanced ovarian cancer (with carboplatin)
metastatic breast cancer (with paclitaxel)
non-small cell lung cancer (with cisplatin)
pancreatic cancer (alone)

Common side effects

nausea and vomiting
anaemia and low blood counts
raised liver enzymes
fever
rash

Cautions

bone marrow suppression — blood counts checked each cycle
serious lung, kidney and liver toxicity possible
severe skin reactions can occur
can harm an unborn baby

Interactions

radiation therapy (severe toxicity during or within 7 days)

Pregnancy: avoid — can harm the unborn baby
