habitat and biology
This species is found in shallow water and has a strong connection to coral reefs. It is usually seen alone and feeds mainly on benthic algae.

This species has a dorsal fin with 6 spines and 27-30 rays, an anal fin with 2 spines and 28-30 rays, and 16-17 pectoral rays. Its body depth varies from 2.0-2.4 in standard length, with subadults being deeper-bodied. Additionally, there are no bumps or protuberances on the snout or forehead, and two pairs of sharp keels on the slender caudal peduncle.
