Indian snapper, Madras snapper

Madharaasee mas
Lutjanus madras

It appears that Lutjanus madras is rather rare in the Maldives, as evidenced by a single specimen caught by trap in approximately 40 meters near K. Feydhoofinolhu. Additionally, it has been recorded from the Laccadives, but it is more commonly associated with continental margins than with oceanic islands.
