Chaetodon guttatissimus

Chaetodon guttatissimus may be mistaken for C. citrinellus, however, the latter is paler and more yellow in color, with finer dotting and a black-edged anal fin. Additionally, C. guttatissimus is closely related to C. punctatofasciatus Cuvier and C. pelewensis Kner of the Pacific.

habitat and biology
This species lives on the edge of reefs and on upper reef slopes. It can be found singly, in pairs, or in small groups. It feeds mainly on polychaete worms, algae, and coral polyps.
distinctive characters
The dorsal fin has 13 spines and 21-23 rays, the anal fin has 3 spines and 16-18 rays, and the pectoral fin has 14 rays. The body depth is 1.5-1.6 times the standard length.
