habitat and biology
This species is found in areas with abundant coral growth and water depths ranging from 5 to 80 meters. It is usually solitary and tends to hide under corals and in crevices. Its diet consists of small fish and crustaceans.

This fish has a dorsal fin with 11 spines and 14-16 rays, an anal fin with 3 spines and 8-9 rays, and a pectoral fin with 15-17 rays. Its body is slender and compressed, with a depth of 3.1-3.7 inches in standard length, and it has a pointed snout and a rounded caudal fin. Additionally, there are no teeth on the palatine bones on either side of the roof of its mouth.
