Amblyeleotris aurora does not dig a hole for itself if there is a snapping shrimp already occupying one nearby; instead, it seeks contact with the shrimp and arranges its resting position so that its tail remains in contact with its partner.

habitat and biology
The species lives in a habitat composed of a combination of sand and rubble at depths ranging from 5 to 15 meters. It shares its burrow with a snapping shrimp.
distinctive characters
The first dorsal fin has six spines, the second dorsal fin has one spine and thirteen rays, the anal fin has one spine and fourteen rays, and the pectoral fin has eighteen to nineteen rays. The breast and pectoral fin base are scaled, and the pelvic fin is only connected at the base. The middle of the nape is naked, and the sides are scaled forward to above the end of the operculum.
